Spring-Break
Gramps? Im back! A young boy, looking like 12 year olds, came walking into the small smithery. Hey BelZath, Im back! Without hearing an answer, the blonde followed the sound of steel hammering against steel.
In the smith-room, a giant white winged god brought down his huge hammer on an almost finished blade made of silver. The white hair framed his face while sweat ran down his forehead from the immense heat.
Heeeello. The small boy leaned against the door-frame, watching his grand-father doing what he was best in: Forging.
Oh Ledah. Didnt hear you coming. BelZath smiled and threw the blade into a bucket with water, causing the water to boil down with a loud fizz.
Hehe. The young boy smiled and ran inside, looking at the blade. It was a raw blade so far. The ornaments and polish were still to come, but the shape told him already, that it was going to be the blade of a spear. Got a new request or is it just for fun?
Just to stay in practice. He grinned and patted the boy. How was school?
It was okay. Ledahs eyes drifted off, not facing his gramps.
So they were bullying you again for your size and wings, huh? BelZath sighed. It was always the same. Even the angel-children that usually would never dare bullying a half-god kept teasing the small blonde for his red wings and especially for his weak body-shape. The boy was 14 already but he was so much smaller than the others, it gave only more reason for the others to tease him. Hey, but now you got a month till you have to go back, right?
True! Ledah chuckled and took his hammer from the wall on the side. Compared to BelZaths giant war-hammer he used for forging as well, it seemed rather pitiful though
What exactly are you up to?
I wanted to make something as well. Ledah grinned sheepishly. I thought about making myself a new set of bracelets or a new hammer for myself. This one looks rather cheap.
Hm
BelZath rose an eyebrow. Well
as I got no new requests
Oh no
The blonde boy turned around, looking at his grandfather with a mixture of anger and frustration. Come on, old man! Its spring-break!
You know the rules. BelZath patted the boys head playfully. If you want something to eat, you gotta work for it. The winter made our little field outside pretty
lets say messy
Messy was the wrong word
A giant mud-puddle was the more matching way to describe it.
Oh great
Rolling his eyes, Ledah walked over to the edge of the field, taking up the pick from the ground. Slowly he lifted his leg, walking into the muddy substance, sinking in with every step. The wet mud reached his hips even in some really bad areas as Ledah tried to mix water with earth to create a more solid consistence.
Hm
what should I cook
? BelZath looked into their supply-chamber, checking for things to eat for dinner
Usually when Ledah was at school for the week, BelZath ate only bread and milk, that was all he needed, and during the weekends it was alright for Ledah as well, but now that he was with him again for a couple of weeks, he needed to change his habits again. The boy had to grow. He needed vitamins, proteins and whatever else that stuff was called that could be found in a decent meal
Lets see
He looked through the cupboards finding nothing but bread, flour, milk, water, eggs,
one rather pitiful looking potato and a tomato that definitely has been lying in there longer than a half year
Frowning, BelZath made his way outside towards the small field behind the house. Ledah? I gotta collect some mushrooms and hunt something, will you be
alright? The old Gods eyes doubled in size as he saw the
usually blonde boy trying to fight himself out of the mud.
Gramps
He replied with a whiny voice. Im stuck
Chuckling BelZath spread his wings, flying up over the field. He offered the boy a hand, trying to pull him out. Come on, brat!
UAH! You are ripping my arm out! The little enwa complained. He was so full with mud by now, his average color was dim brown or grey
And how am I supposed to pull you wimp out of there otherwise?!
I HAVE NO CLUE! The poor boy shouted annoyed as he got packed around his shoulders this time. I think my foot is stuck on something!
Oh great
Rolling his eyes, BelZath let himself fall into the mud, covering the boy with even more dirt. Lets see
He tried to get his hands deeper into the ground to see whatever was holding his grandson down. Yknow, Ifrit might be clumsy, but at least he is no trouble-magnet! The amused look on the dirty face of the god showed Ledah that he wasnt really mad on him, just joking about his attitude to get in trouble wherever he went
After almost a whole hour, BelZath had finally managed to free poor Ledah from two roots his foot had been trapped in. They both looked like a complete mess, shivering and exhausted.
Suddenly BelZath had to chuckle, receiving a weird glare from the blonde.
Hehe, I just thought, maybe itd be best we wait with the field until you reach my belly-button in size! The God had to laugh out loud at that one.
Yeah, or maybe I will just jump up and bite your knee
Rolling his eyes Ledah lolled his tongue out. I need a new set of cloths.
So do I. Looking down on himself, BelZath was rather unamused
Usually it was enough for him to buy a new set of cloths every few years. He had two sets, so he had enough in stock for his needs
but since his grandson was living with him, he had to restock almost anything
A new bed, a new cupboard, the kitchen had to become huger than before, he needed new cloths nearly every half year and the work wouldnt really go faster with the boy helping him as well
You know, a dozen pets couldnt possibly more expensive than what you are causing here
Hehe, well, Im special! Ledah laughed and ran up to change into a new couple of cloths.
BelZath sat down in the living-room
or at least that was what they called the right side of the forge in which a couch was placed along with a small table
Deep in thought, he had to smile about the boy
He liked Ledah really much. He was more to him than only the kid of his daughter that had to stay with him because he had no other place to go.
Looking at the small table, his eyes spotted a picture with a 3-year old blonde boy, his older half-brother and a silver-haired beauty that smiled so brightly as if all the luck and satisfaction in this world had met her
He took up the picture and looked at the small Ledah that was holding a small red sparkling blade as if it was the hugest treasure of the world. Next to him, Ifrit grinned his usual bright smile, huggeling his baby-bro to never let him go again. And Narwa
she just sat there so happy he had never seen her before
BelZath frowned
He disliked demons but if one of them managed to make his daughter this happy, they couldnt be that bad, and after all, his grandson was half-demonic as well
Im done! Ledah came running into the room, his white shirt knotted up in the way BelZath usually did it for forging. Shall we get something to eat next?
Nice idea
BelZath remembered that he wanted to collect some things for dinner
dammit
Curse you, stupid mud. Will you be alright with bread and milk for today?
Of course! Cuckling, the boy ran into the kitchen, preparing the table for both of them, while BelZath returned to the supply-chamber, brining up their dinner.
Fathers Day
Light fell softly into the wide room, lighting the dark floor up in an unnatural light. The ornamentations on the wall sparkled silver as the rays hit them.
A young boy lay in his bed, head hidden under his blanket to not get disturbed while napping. But it was no use
someone was knocking on his door
again
It was the fifth time this morning and he hated it. Why wouldnt the servants just wait until he comes down for breakfast instead of knocking to his door every ten minutes to check if he was up?!
Hmmmmm
Rubbing his eyes, the boy turned over and over again, blinking sleepily towards the clock hanging on the wall. 30 minutes past 11
okay, maybe it REALLY was time to stand up
Good morning Prince Zeyir. A maiden with locked silver hair greeted him gently, smiling at the bedhead.
Moin
Zeyir rubbed his eyes while brushing his grey hair out of his face.
Have you been up all night again or why are you so sleepy? A familiar voice rang to the keen ears of the little demon.
Whatever, Will
Yawning, Zeyir turned around to face the blue-haired vampire. Hm? He spotted the bags standing next to his private guardian and servant
Are you going out somewhere far away with me or why did you pack so many things?
Nya, thats why Im here
I was talking with your mother. Will looked down at the boy a little nervous. I wanted to say good bye to you. I will go home this weekend and-
Did she kick you out!?! Zeyirs mouth clapped open in shock. This couldnt be happening!! Whenever his parents had to travel away without him which was rather often
- Will was the one going out with Zeyir to all kinds of awesome places like the beach, or the sand-dunes,
No, no, dont worry about that! Will chuckled, patting the startled prince. I will come back next week. Im just heading home for fathers day.
Fathers day? Whats that? Blinking confused, the prince sat down on a chair, pulling on his robe to get dressed up before going down to the throne-room.
Well, it is a day in which sons and daughters go out and make something with their father. Just
normal things like fishing for which you usually lack the time during the year. The vampire grinned sheepishly, showing off his teeth.
Still sleepdazed, Zeyir nodded. Okay
Wish you fun.
See you next week, Zeyir!
Kyrin sat on the throne next to his wife, going through the reports, he and Mellin had to finish for the day. Ruling a country was hard work after all
The grey-black hair of the queen hang down her shoulders, framing her body perfectly as she signed a request for more supplies to one of the poorer areas of the country.
Excuse me? A weak voice echoed through the room. Mellin looked down with a risen eyebrow.
Whats wrong, dear?
Hey Zeyir, awake already? Kyrin chuckled at the sleepy look of his son. How did the boy manage to oversleep every morning?!
Hehe
The boy blushed ashamed. Uhm
are you going away tomorrow again? I heard one of the guards say you were invited to a festival at a dukes house
Yes, darling, we will be leaving tomorrow morning. Mellins gaze drifted back to her papers for a second before returning to her son. Do you want to come with us? After all we stay in Galdor, so you should be out of danger.
Zeyirs face-expression was not really impressed
He disliked it when his mother thought of everything as a threat for her son
He was a prince, yes, but
Whod possibly want to kill him?! He was a KID! I rather wanted to ask if
Father could stay here maybe?
? Mellin looked over to her mate confused. Kyrin seemed just as speechless.
Why do you want me to stay if you can come with us? The old demon laughed, laying aside his pergaments and feather to fully focus on his little son.
It is fathers day this weekend.
And? Mellin went back to her papers, writing a clear denied under a request for less taxes in the richer areas around Galdor Castle.
Well, fathers day is a day in which sons and daughters go out and make something with their father. Normal things like fishing for which you usually lack the time during the year. And we never have time for such things during the year. Zeyir looked at his feet ashamed to ask such a thing.
Kyrin smiled softly. Yet he knew that it was his duty to support the queen, so
Zeyir I dont think-
For me it is alright. Mellin interrupted. The Tarat-family will have to accept it if only I am present. They should consider themselves lucky that Im even coming to their little party, so no need for you to come along. She kissed her husband before returning to her papers.
Thank you so much, mother! Glee filled the young boys voice as he ran outside to prepare anything for their trip the next day.
Ugh
Yeah, thats good! The small prince ordered his palace-guards around to collect whatever they needed for their father-son-trip
You pick up the rods, you get me something to eat for now and you prepare something to take with us!
Sir, yes sir! It was a funny sight to see a small boy with black shirts and dark green baggy trousers to order around the fully armored guards while standing on a back-pack stuffed with towels, waterbottles, swimsuits and an umbrella just in case
And who exactly is supposed to carry that? Kyrin leaned on the doorframe towards the stairway, watching the show
Where exactly are we headed anyway?
You will see
And what did you mean by who will carry that? Zeyir blinked confused.
We will leave the guards here of course
and I cant carry a dozen back-packs, boy. Chuckling, Kyrin went over to the packs, looking at the things the boy had decided to take with them
Zeyirs eyes widened in happiness. His mother would have never allowed such a thing!Guess I should dress up different, huh? The elder looked over to his son, musing his unusual clothing.
Some baggy, comfortable stuff would be best. Zeyir grinned brightly, licking with his tongue over his razor-sharp teeth while pulling on a cap. He hopped off the bags, examine their supplies a little closer as the servant returned with another bag.
Then I will be back in a second. Kyrin laughed and walked back up to his room, coming back three minutes later. Zeyir had to suppress his laughter. He had never seen his father out of his robes and armors
and now with short baggy trousers and a T-shirt that was way too wide for him there was space for two demons in that thing!
Musing over the rest of their bags, Zeyir decided to pick up the smallest one of the 4 bags lying on the ground by now. One of the demon-servants stepped forward just about to take the back-pack from his price to carry it for him as- It is alright. I can carry it by myself! The boy chuckled and looked over to his father.
Yes, I will carry the rest. The guards and servants are dismissed until either my or my wifes return. The king spoke with such a cold voice, it didnt leave any space for complains or critics about his intention to travel with the prince alone. This is an order. Now if you dont mind
He took up the remaining back-pack and the two bags. What the--?! The bags were so heavy, the elder man almost fell backwards at the weight of their supplies
He took a look inside the bag
Zeyir, are you going to take me on a week-trip?! What do we need all this stuff for?!
I dunno
I just thought its better to be safe than sorry! The boy snapped. He ran over to his father, hopping up on back-pack to pull out the two fishing-rods. Fine, I will carry these, but you gotta take the rest!
Rolling his eyes, Kyrin followed Zeyir out of the castle towards the dragon-stables. This was going to be a long trip
The soft shimmer of light in the skies of Galdor lit the fields with an unnatural yet beautiful atmosphere. The lands had always been poor of plants farther away from the 3 rivers going through the country, but close to their shore, the and bloomed with life. Small trees with thick crowns of leafs grew between the knee-high grass on the plains. Silver-shimmering flowers danced in the wind that blew softly over the demonic land. Only two figures close to the riverside interrupted the silence of the midday-dream that illuminated Galdors rich banks.
No, I think you have to put it there
Are you sure? Zeyir stared on the little worm in his hand. And
where do I have to put it?
Here
Kyrin took the end of the boys rod and pulled the string towards himself, fixing the worm on its end above the hook. After a second thought though
Maybe it is supposed to be fixed ON the hook though
Huh? Why cant you tell? Zeyir blinked confused, looking at his rod in confusion. He took the hook with the worm, staring at it intensely as if he hoped it would go to its destinated place by himself if he just stared at it hard enough. Chuckling at the childish tries of his beloved son, to find a solution for their problem, he took his own rod to fix the worm on the hook as well.
You know
this is my first time going fishing as well. He laughed and ruffled through his sons grey hair. Receiving a weird glance from the boy, he turned towards the river again, focusing on what they were up to. Now lets see if that works
He threw the hook into the water, waiting for a few second before pulling it out again. Hm
Didnt work
Maybe you have to wait a little longer before pulling the string out again? The boy suggested sheepishly. He had in fact informed himself at least a little by the servants how fishing worked
He either had to use the rod which was more for patience and the traditional way, or, if he was fast enough, catching the fishes with his claws instead. Zeyir decided that he wanted to test out the first method before hunting by himself
If he recalled correctly, that was what Will meant by fishing
Hm
if you say so
Kyrin rolled his eyes before throwing the lure back into the river. They were small-talking in the meanwhile, discussing about the latest political movements of the neighbor-countries, the latest dragon-race-results or the new rumors about what was going on in the palace.
Woah, and where do you know that from? Kyrin blinked surprised. I mean
I decided that myself and didnt tell anyone beside Mellin so far.
Hehehe
the maidens know anything. Zeyir chuckled at the perplex face of his father. Anyway and then-
Woah! Suddenly Kyrin fell forward as something pulled on his string. I think I have something! The elder tried his best to pull back his rod and to get in the lure but whatever had snapped it was really strong!
Come on, Dad! That must be a giant one! Zeyir hopped up, dropping his own rod to cheer for his father excited. He jumped on his fathers back, hugging him from behind. I cant believe we actually got one! Chuckling in excitement, Zeyir mused how his father tried his best to get the fish out of the water, but it just wouldnt move!
By GaldorsARG! Kyrin pulled the rod backwards so hard, Zeyir flew off his back, landing in the soft grass. Something shot towards Kyrin with incredible speed. The experienced fighter he was, he managed to dodge the vehicle before it hit him right in the face, flying past him against a tree. This is a
He blinked a little confused. As Zeyir spotted the big fish, he bursted out in laughter. It took the boy a couple of moments to be able to talk again.
A boot?! The laughter was so hard, it almost hurt. The great king of Galdor examined his prey with a mixture of amusement and curiosity on his face. He took up the brown boot, grinning.
Hey, thats my size. Maybe I should try fishing a second one.
Ahahaha
That was too much for the boy. He rolled over the soft ground, holding his belly. This was the best fathers day he had ever had. Well
particularly it was his first fathers day he ever had
but nonetheless is was a day he wouldnt want to miss.
Got another one! Zeyir jumped out of the water, totally soaked but a salmon pierced on his claws. Kyrin sat on the riverside, enjoying the evening. It was almost dark already and the boy had caught enough fish for 20 meals
The elder however had managed to catch just as many fishes, but it was fun watching the boy running through the water after the fishes passing his feet.
The light reflecting on the water mirrored on the boys forehead, giving his blue demon-mark an intense shimmer. As Zeyir brought down his claws once more, catching a trout, Kyrin decided that it was time to go back to the castle.
Zeyir? He smiled softly. I think we should be heading back now.
The glee in the boys face faded for a second before a forced smile appeared on his lips. Guess you are right
Mother will be worried if she comes back and we are still gone
Sighing he hopped out of the water, dripping all over the ground. Suddenly a warm hand ruffled through his hair. Looking up, the boy met his fathers gentle gaze.
You know
if you liked this trip so much
we might repeat that every once in a while. Enjoying the sudden outburst of happiness of the boy as he huggled his father in glee, Kyrin lifted his son up on his shoulders, walking back to their dragons that were going to fly them back to their home, Castle Galdor.
